Why I Chose Medicine

Being the first in my family to go into healthcare, the physician assistant profession was not introduced to me until high school. But from a young age, I always knew I wanted to make an impact on patient’s lives and continue being a lifelong learner. Through an abundance of shadowing opportunities, I fell in love with the collaborative practice of healthcare teams, developing relationships with patients, and aiding them in maximizing their quality of life.

What Do You Find Most Rewarding About Your Profession?

I think the most rewarding thing about being a physician assistant is allowing patients to have a voice in their treatment options and establishing a transparent relationship with one another. With that, being able to correctly diagnose and treat patient’s skin conditions that have diminished their quality of life. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing a patient gain more self-confidence in themselves.
