CT AND NUCLEAR MEDICINE SCAN PREPARATIONS

The type of preparation needed for your scheduled CT and Nuclear Medicine scan can vary greatly depending upon the site of the scan to be performed.  Each patient should review the required instructions with a Radiology staff member in advance of their scheduled appointment.  Many procedures may not require any advance preparations but could require you to be in the Radiology Department for an extended length of time.  Some procedures require a contrast material be used and you will be asked to pick-up a preparatory kit in the Radiology Department.  Nuclear Medicine scans are highly specific and it is necessary that you fully review and understand the preparations with Radiology staff prior to your scheduled appointment.  If instructions are not followed appropriately there may be a delay or cancellation of your procedure.
